Don’t let pinterest or instagram tell you that the only way to celebrate your baby turning one is that you must book a cake smash photoshoot. Because you don’t. Your little ones first birthday photoshoot can be beautifully celebrated without all the mess & sugar crashes. As a Hertfordshire baby photographer let me assure you that you can create your own alternative first birthday celebrations for your baby’s first birthday photoshoot. Turning one doesn’t have to involve a high-sugar, icing-covered birthday cake with your baby sitting in front of it for photos. So if that’s really not your vibe as a family, take some inspiration from this gorgeous elegant family photoshoot at my studio in Biggleswade. As a dedicated Bedfordshire baby & family photographer I’ve captured a lot of celebrations in my time, and I’ve loved seeing the different ways families have opted to celebrate a first birthday. Lot’s of families have opted for something still sweet but more in line with something that feels true to them. A few of my favourites have been a stack of homemade blueberry baby weaning pancakes with a 1 candle on top, a naked baby weaning chocolate cake made from dates and cacao for the sweetness, their babys first taste of honey. For celebrating sweet baby K turning 1, his parents bought a gorgeously big & classic 1 balloon to mark the special milestone. The whole afternoon we spent the morning chasing after sweet baby K as he cheekily crawled around the studio, intrigued by this giant balloon swaying in the background. The brief was classic timeless and elegant first birthday family photos, fun playful & true to us with a few of baby K’s details and some skin on skin photos with Daddy like we captured in his newborn session. So if you want to skip the sticky cleanup, the stained carpets, you can still throw a memorable, joyful celebration to mark their first birthday.
